Twins Scoreboard Message (Mess - 11/5/10)

As some of you know Brian, Ben, Joel, and I went in on Twins season tickets last year. As part of that we are allowed to post a message on the scoreboard once a year. This tribute was the best thing I could come up with, and I hope you all agree. I had it posted the final game of the season, I was not at the game, but the Twins sent this photo to me.

Random Stuff (Stacy - 3/11/10)

Hello Friend-

Brian has encouraged me a few times to post about that piece of paper I carry in my wallet. The one you left on my car so many years ago with the words that you wrote for me. What I haven’t told him is how many times I’ve tried to write about it and find myself stuck. What I haven’t told him is how pissed off I was at you that day. What I haven’t told him is that every time I try to write it I just feel horrible for being so annoyed and frustrated with you over something so unimportant. What I wish is that I could be having that day (crappy as it was) with you now.

I still miss you all of the time. I think of you most everyday (the curse of working from home without other people to distract me leaves me alone with my thoughts). Alison said your name for the first time last week. I tell her stories about you and often when she does something cute I tell her how much her Uncle Rory would have loved her. After I said that to her the other day she just looked up at me and said “Wory”. I asked her to repeat herself just so I could be sure I had heard her correctly. She just kept saying your name with a big smile on her face. My face did not hold the same smile. In fact I think I forgot how to stand for a few minutes. I sat in the hallway crying while she ran back and forth yelling your name. She stopped just long enough to walk over and give me a hug. She has no idea what she’s missing in not having you here. I know what she’s missing and I know what I’m missing.

I'm not sure these hurt feelings are ever going away.

PS I watched 2 things last night you would have enjoyed watching. First up was the Larry Bird/MagicJohnson rivalry and the second was 30 Clubs in 30 Days spring training with the Twins. You are impressed right? Did you just fall over from the shock that not only did I sit through both of these I actually taped & then stayed up late to watch them? I have some new favorites on the Twins team. I'm not sure if they are any good but I now have a super crush on Nick Blackburn and I want to hang out with Orlando Hudson (he's hilarious).

It's gonna be a big year!!!!

Still Miss Him (Rachel - 12/21/09)

There have been so many times I have wanted to write and haven't. I miss him. Some of my favorite thoughts are when we first met. He was the boy who worked at Pioneer Hall and signed out the keys to me in the morning. Our first long conversation outside figuring out that he had lived in IGH and I had lived in SSP. We talked about people we both knew. We talked about the rain. How we liked being in the rain and also how nice it was to listen to the rain when indoors. Who knew from that point forward our lives would be connected in so many ways? I did, I guess. It was the feeling you got when you talked to him...connected.

After James Brown died you wrote the following:

I am voicing my proper respects to Tony Gwynn and Cal Ripken Jr for being elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame on their first ballots. Easy choices for all voters and fans. Gwynn, the greatest hitter of his era and, Ripken the most reliable of any era.

From sports to music and a man who forged a wing in the Hall of Fame. James Brown died on Dec 25th of aught-six. His dedication to his craft was also unparalleled. He showed moves and groves that had never been seen. He gave us rhythms and melodies that will show up in music from their creation into the vast future.
